Saginaw Valley's Rutz, Davenport's Orban Collect GLIAC Men's Soccer POW Honors

BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following Week 4 of the 2017 men's soccer season. Saginaw Valley junior midfielder Connor Rutz earned GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week accolades, while Davenport senior goalkeeper Aaron Orban claimed GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors.


OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Connor Rutz, Saginaw Valley

Saginaw Valley junior midfielder Connor Rutz has been stellar lately for the No. 13 Cardinals offensively. He made it three straight matches scoring first for SVSU, including both contests this weekend. Rutz had the first goal in the team's 2-2 draw at Tiffin on Friday before netting both of the Cardinals' scores in Sunday's 2-1 win at Purdue Northwest. Saginaw Valley is now tied atop the league standings after the 1-0-1 weekend. 


DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Aaron Orban, Davenport

Davenport senior goalkeeper Aaron Orban picked up his second shutout of the season on Sunday in the 2-0 win over Northern Michigan. He also lowered his goals-against average to 1.09 this season improving to 5-2-1 in goal.
