WSU's Foley and AU's Hitchcock claim Week 2 baseball awards

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly baseball awards following week 2 of the 2019 season. Wayne State redshirt freshman outfielder Ryan Foley earned GLIAC Baseball Player of the Week honors, while Ashland junior Chance Hitchcock captured Pitcher of the Week accolades.


PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Ryan Foley - Wayne State

Redshirt freshman outfielder Ryan Foley (Ann Arbor, Mich.) did a bit of everything in the three-game sweep of Tiffin this past weekend. He hit .455 (5-for-11), scored five runs and drove in a run. Foley stole two bases and drew a walk. He did not make an error in nine total chances and had an assist from the outfield.


PITCHER OF THE WEEK: Chance Hitchcock - Ashland

Junior right-hander Chance Hitchcock (Martinsville, Ind.) tossed six strong innings as the Eagles defeated Rockhurst, 5-2, in the Eagles' season opener on Sunday. He gave up just one run and three hits while striking out five as the Eagles won in Nashville.
