Northwood's Bain is named NCBWA National Pitcher of the Week

DALLAS (NCBWA) – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association released its NCAA Division II National Players of the Week awards for the week ending on April 8. Colorado School of Mines junior outfielder Trevor Kehe is the National Hitter of the Week, and Northwood senior pitcher Max Bain is the National Pitcher of the Week.

Bain (Clarkston, Mich.) made Northwood history Saturday, April 6, tossing a no-hitter in Northwood's 4-0 win over Parkside. The senior from Clarkston struck out nine while walking three in seven innings of work. Bain has now allowed one run and five hits while striking out 17 over his last 13 innings. He is the first Northwood pitcher to throw a no-hitter since Mike Quibell in 1986. Bain now stands with a 5-0 record on the season.

Kehe (Golden, Colo./Lakewood HS) went 12-15 (.800) at the plate and is this week's RMAC Player of the Week. Kehe hit three homers while tallying 12 RBI's including at least one in all four games. He added eight runs and three stolen bases while having an on base percentage of .824.
