Twelve GLIAC players earn D2CCA all-region honors; Brown named pitcher of the year

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Wayne State's Hunter Brown was named D2CCA Midwest Region Pitcher of the Year and was one of 12 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference baseball players to earn all-region honors.

Brown, a starting pitcher for the Warriors from St. Clair Shores, Mich., has made 13 appearances on the mound this season and was the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's Pitcher of the Year. He is 9-0 with a 1.80 earned run average in 80 innings pitched and has struck out 105 batters while holding the opposition to a .194 batting average. Brown leads the GLIAC in ERA, and also ranks in the top three in the conference in wins, strikeouts and complete games (3). 

The all-region first team also includes Ashland sophomore shortstop Austin Eifrid, junior designated hitter Carson Mittermaier, and senior pitchers Devin Peters and Chris Slavik, along with Davenport junior third baseman Jacob Buchberger and junior outfielder Travis Harvey.

The second team includes Northwood junior first baseman David Vinsky and senior utility player Nick Palmer, Wayne State sophomore third baseman Jacob Finkbeiner and sophomore designated hitter Michael MacLean, and Ashland junior pitcher Chance Hitchcock.

Bellarmine senior outfielder Zac Wiley was named player of the year.
