Findlay’s Michele Schambs Chosen as GLIAC Women's Golf "Athlete of the Week"

BAY CITY, Mich. - University of Findlay junior Michele Schambs (Chillicothe, Ohio/Zane Trace) has been chosen as the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's (GLIAC) Women's Golf "Athlete of the Week."

University of Findlay junior Michele Schambs led the Oilers to a second place finish at the Walsh Invitational by winning the tournament in a playoff.  Schambs returned from injury to shoot a 153 in the two-round competition. She carded an 80 in the opening round on Sunday and then came back with a one-over par score of 73 in the second round to put her in a three-way tie for first place when the tournament came to a conclusion. She then fired a par during the first playoff hole while Walsh’s Jenny Tsangeos and Ferris State’s Ashley Swanson both bogeyed.
