Tiffin's Hargrove and Findlay's Welch Chosen As GLIAC Men's Outdoor Track & Field "Athletes of the Week"

 

BAY CITY, Mich. -  Tiffin University freshman Lamar Hargrove (Cincinnati, Ohio/North College Hill) and University of Findlay junior Justin Welch (Luckey, Ohio/Eastwood) have been chosen as the GLIAC Men's Outdoor Track & Field "Athletes of the Week."

 

GLIAC Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week:

Lamar Hargrove - Tiffin University
Freshman - Cincinnati, Ohio/North College Hill

Tiffin University freshman Lamar Hargrove ran 20.93 to win the 200m dash at the Vanderbilt Black and Gold Invitational.  He was competed against athletes from NCAA Division I, II and III schools.  Hargrove's time hit the NCAA provisional mark, is the fastest in the country so far this year and was .06 away from the automatic mark.

GLIAC Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week:

 

Justin Welch - University of Findlay
Junior - Luckey, Ohio/Eastwood

University of Findlay junior Justin Welch finished first in the hammer throw at the Raleigh Relays on March 28-29 with a school record-breaking toss of 230’01 (70.13m). The NCAA Division II automatic qualifying heave was almost 20 feet past Michigan State’s Antonio James, who finished second in the event.  The toss was also the fourth longest in the history of NCAA Division II outdoor track and field.
