Grand Valley State's Janecke and Ashland's Watt Chosen As GLIAC Women's Outdoor Track & Field "Athletes of the Week"

BAY CITY, Mich. - Grand Valley State University junior Jessica Janecke (Scales Mound, Ill./Wahlert Catholic) and Ashland University sophomore Cynthia Watt (Mt. Vernon, N.Y./Mt. Vernon) have been chosen as the GLIAC Women's Outdoor Track & Field "Athletes of the Week."

 

GLIAC Women's Outdoor Track "Athlete of the Week":

 

Jessica Janecke - Grand Valley State
Junior - Scales Mound, Ill./Wahlert Catholic

Grand Valley State junior Jessica Janecke posted the best 10,000 meter time in Division II this year at the Raleigh Relays, where she finished fourth in the "A" section with a time of 35:04.23. She was the top Division II finisher in the field and her time is the best in Division II by over 16 seconds.

GLIAC Women's Outdoor Field "Athlete of the Week":

 

Cynthia Watt- Ashland University
Sophomore - Mt. Vernon, N.Y. / Mt. Vernon

Ashland University sophomore Cynthia Watt finished first in the hammer throw last weekend at the Weems Baskin Invitational at the University of South Carolina. Her winning throw measured 199-8. That's currently the second longest throw in the country (NCAA II) and it is an automatic qualifier for nationals.
