KANSAS CITY, Mo. – For the second
consecutive week, the top six spots remained the same in the
NABC/Division II men’s basketball rankings as West Liberty
continues to hold the top spot for the third week in
succession.
The Hilltoppers improved to 6-0 last week to retain the top spot,
but each of the next four teams immediately following West Liberty
received a first place vote in the new poll. Washburn stayed
at No. 2, followed by Metropolitan State, Alabama-Huntsville and
Bellarmine.
Western Washington remained at No. 6 this week, with Southern
Indiana moving up a spot to seventh and Seattle Pacific jumping
back into the top 10 at No. 8. The next two spots belong to
newcomers to the top 10 this season in Cal Poly Pomona and Barton
(whose loss Monday at Shaw is not reflected in this week’s
rankings).
Lincoln Memorial moved up one spot to No. 11 to head up the second ten, followed by Northwest Missouri State, Findlay, St. Cloud State and Franklin Pierce, who fell eight spots after a 12-point loss Saturday at Saint Anselm. A pair of teams from the Great Lakes Valley Conference, Kentucky Wesleyan and Indianapolis, hold down the next two spots, while Winona State, Christian Brothers and Minnesota State round out the top 20.
The final five teams this week include newcomers Augusta State at No. 21, No. 23 North Alabama and No. 24 Assumption. Indiana (Pa.) remains in the top 25 at No. 22 and West Texas A&M at No. 25 after both teams suffered losses in their conference openers during the course of last week.
