BAY CITY, Mich. - Ferris State University junior guard Sarah DeShone (Elkhart, Ind./Jimtown) and Ashland University senior guard/forward Kari Daugherty (Fresno, Ohio/Dayton) have been chosen as the GLIAC Women's Basketball North and South Division "Players of the Week", respectively.

Ferris State University junior guard Sarah DeShone averaged 23 points per contest as the Bulldog women’s basketball squad opened league play with a 1-1 mark this past weekend in Ohio. DeShone led an injury-riddled squad with 26 points, five assists, four rebounds and two steals in the 72-61 road win at Lake Erie on Thursday. She then tallied a game-high 20 points with eight rebounds, two assists and two steals in the Bulldogs’ 72-62 loss on Saturday at nationally number-one ranked Ashland.

Ashland University senior guard Kari Daugherty set the NCAA record for consecutive double-doubles when she had 12 points and 19 rebounds against Ferris State. That was her 25th straight double-double, breaking the record of 24 set by Vanessa Wilt of Cal State San Bernadino (2007-2008). Daugherty notched her third, 30-point game of the season when she had 30 points against GVSU. For the week Daugherty averaged 21.0 points, 14.5 rebounds., and 5.5 assists per game.
