Five GLIAC Men's Soccer Players Earn 2012 Daktronics Men’s Soccer All-Midwest Region Accolades

Quincy Ill. –Rockhurst’s Mark Magee has been named the 2011 Midwest Region Player of the Year by the region sports information directors.

Magee, a native of Evesham, England, led the Great Lakes Valley Conference in goals (15) and points (39). He also tied for first in the conference with nine assists and led the circuit with seven game-winning goals. The junior forward was named the GLVC Offensive Player of the Year in 2012 and was honored with first team All-GLVC laurels the past two seasons. Last season, Magee was named a first team NSCAA All-American and a second team Daktronics All-American. Magee led the Hawks to the GLVC regular season and tournament championships and helped the team advance to the NCAA Tournament elite eight.

Joining Magee on the All-Midwest Region first team are Rockhurst’s Ryan Bass (GK), Dan Frohock (D), Nick McDonald (MF) and Paolo Scoppola (MF); Indianapolis’ Reid Strain (F); Northwood’s Luke Ruff (D); Notre Dame’s Erik Beattie (MF) and Tom Owens (MF); Ohio Dominican’s Casey Weddle (D); Quincy’s Chis Garavaglia (D); Saginaw Valley State’s Zach Myers (F); and Southern Indiana’s Jeffrey McClure (F).
The second team consists of Cedarville’s Steve Ellis (D); Drury’s Scott Stiffler (MF); Missouri S&T’s Spencer Brinkmeyer (D); Northwood’s Sam Nair (F); Notre Dame’s Jacob Sheppard (D); Ohio Dominican’s Justin Wheeler (MF); Quincy’s Jordan Roberts (F) and Jeff Vaninger (F); Saginaw Valley State’s Lachlan Savage (MF) and Jason Wise (GK); Rockhurst’s Jon Schreiber (D); Southern Indiana’s Austin Andrekus (MF); and Urbana’s Tyler Wason (F).
 
The 13 first team all-region selections will now be placed on the national ballot for All-America consideration. The All-America teams will be released on Wednesday, Nov. 28. The complete Daktronics All-Midwest Region teams follow.
